CHOOSING A FLOOR
How to choose flooring for your home
Compare the room conditions, appearance and installation method before choosing flooring.
Start with the room
Consider foot traffic, sunlight, moisture and the existing subfloor. For a kitchen or bathroom, choose only a product approved by its manufacturer for those conditions. A water-resistant panel does not make the entire floor watertight.
Compare specifications and installation
Compare thickness, use class, wear layer and joint system. Check underfloor heating compatibility and underlay requirements. Do not add another underlay beneath a panel with an integrated layer unless the manufacturer allows it.
Measure and compare a sample
Measure the room and allow for cutting waste appropriate to the layout. The calculator converts area into whole packs; check the area per pack and the total order price. Compare a sample with your furniture in daylight and artificial light.
