How to clean and care for vinyl flooring
Everyday cleaning, scratch prevention and care based on the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Remove sand and dust
Sweep regularly with a soft brush or vacuum with a hard-floor attachment. Grit beneath shoes and furniture can scratch the surface. Use an entrance mat suitable for the covering.
Clean gently
Use a well-wrung mop and a cleaner approved for the specific flooring. Do not flood the floor. Avoid abrasive pads, aggressive solvents and unapproved polishes. Use a steam cleaner only where the manufacturer explicitly permits it.
Protect the surface
Fit appropriate furniture pads and keep them clean. Lift heavy furniture instead of dragging it. Choose chair castors and protective mats according to the manufacturer’s guidance; some materials can discolour vinyl.
Deal with spills
Remove spilled liquids promptly. Test an unfamiliar cleaner in an inconspicuous area. Consult the installer or seller about deep damage instead of using an unsuitable repair product.
